Not Violating Godwin's Law
DeLong quotes Klein approvingly saying "[government] is the common expression of our desires and purposes as a society." I'd say that this makes me gag, but that would be too weak. Following this sentiment to any serious degree will lead you down the path to fascism, and perhaps to national socialism. It is not a sentiment consonant with a free society.

The Opposite of Damned if you Do, Damned if you Don't
I'm open to criticisms of it, but this sounds like a damn good idea to me.
